Expandora is a brand of guitar/bass pedals known for their vintage crunch and fuzz tones. Most famously used by Billy Gibbons of the rock band ZZ Top.
CHALLENGE: Bringing back a vintage brand to the modern era but still keeping the feel of the original.
Expandora is a brand of pedals that has a "vintage crunch" to its sound. The pedal was being reworked with modern materials but I wanted to keep the look and feel of the classic rock era. This immediately brought to mind hot rods, old garage signs and the color palette to match. Below are the results.
This is the Expandora Vintage Reissue pedal. Again going with the hot rod and garage theme, the box art was built out using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
The Forbidden Fuzz pedal needed to have a "monster" feel to it but but also needed to stay in brand. The box art was built out using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. The piece on the right is a packed in die cut sticker, that was included in each box. The client was very happy with the end result.
This is the Expandora2, an update to the original Expadora pedal. Still keeping the weathered metal sign look but adding in a more modern crowd and musician. The second box uses the hot rod like the reissue. The box art was built out using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
The half page ad above ran in a guitar magazine (not this particular issue) with a circulation of over 100,000. This ad was created in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and laid out in Adobe InDesign.
